Periodical acoustic podcast: “All Along The Watchtower” (Bob Dylan/Jimi Hendrix) and “Pieces” by me

So I finally have returned to my promise of two podcasts a week.  🙂  Not sure how long I’ll be able to keep it up, but it is how it is.

The songs this week are “All Along The Watchtower,” written by Bob Dylan, perfected by Jimi Hendrix (Yet another song I happen to be singing for Town Crier), and “Pieces” off of my Two Sides Of The Same Soul album.

The usual — no editing, me on my acoustic, recorded on my Sony ICD-SX700 voice recorder.

Recordings from Town Crier 10-27-09 band practice now available

Last week’s recordings have been replaced by this week’s.

Remember, these will get deleted after we practice next week.

This week we practiced sets 3 and 4, and they are as follows (the original artist is in parentheses):

Set 3:

  • The Man (Town Crier)
  • Why Me (Delbert McClinton)
  • Smokin’ Gun (Robert Cray Band)
  • I’ll Be (Edwin McCain)
  • Ride Captain Ride (The Blues Image)
  • Higher (Creed)
  • Homesick (The Atlanta Rhythm Section)
  • One (U2)
  • Bad Boy (Beatles)

Set 4:

  • Foreverman (Eric Clapton)
  • I’m On My Way (The Proclaimers)
  • Remedy (Seether)
  • Heartbreaker (Grand Funk Railroad)
  • Can’t You See (Marshall Tucker Band)
  • I Know [Which Way] (Town Crier)
  • Past The Point Of Rescue (Hal Ketchum)
  • Wonderful Tonight (Eric Clapton)

We just started set 4, so there are two tracks still not recorded (track #8 “Kansas City” (Wilbert Harrison) and track #10 “Lightning Crashes” (Live).  Set 4 is very rough … so don’t judge!  😀

Recordings from Town Crier 10-6-09 band practice now available

I’ve decided to try recording my band (Town Crier) each week at practice and publishing MP3s.

These will be temporary — once I get a new batch each week, I’ll remove the old ones.

At any rate, this week’s recordings are currently up at http://listapp.ciesurplus.com/jeremy_temp/ and include:

  • Boni Maroni
  • Running Down A Dream
  • Unsigned Letter
  • Have You Ever Seen The Rain
  • Hot Number
  • Angel Eyes
  • What If I Came Knockin
  • Just Got Paid
  • Mr. Jones
  • Foreverman

Keep in mind of course that they’re practice recordings — there are mistakes, and there is no editing.  It’s just a live recording.  The whole idea is just to have new music to listen to.  Enjoy!

Periodical acoustic podcast: Remedy by Seether on acoustic

This week I chose to play Remedy by Seether.  We are playing this in Town Crier (my band), plus the song pretty much epitomizes modern rock.

As usual, this is just me on my acoustic, in my studio, recorded on my Sony ICD-SX700 digital voice recorder, no modifications other than trimming at the beginning and end.

Alright … one more performance for the record books. Last night I played the Open Mic Night at Coalie Harry’s in downtown Winchester, and I just rocked the house … ok maybe not, but I had a lot of fun. I played Lucky Town, You, Born, I Know (Which Way), Lucky Town again (by request), One, and The Time Is Yours. As usual, and as I anticipated, Lucky Town got a huge reception. I don’t really think of it as my best song, but everyone else seems to think is, so why argue? 🙂 Anyway, I have (or will have soon) posted pictures from the performance.

Furthermore, for at least the next two Thursdays I am planning to play the Open Mic again. On January 27th I will be going to the Six Pence club in Parkersburg, WV to play for a songwriter’s show, where in attendance will be some representatives from the Nashville Songwriters Assocation International. We’ll have a little private demo, and then play live after 9:00. I am going to pitch Lucky Town, and if I am incredibly lucky, I might get it out to the public somehow. I’m crossing my fingers.

February 1, I will be playing the Open Mic Night at Shenandoah University, and it’d be great for everyone to come out and see me. This will likely be the biggest crowd I have ever played for, so I anticipate it with enthusiasm. It is my understanding that this Open Mic recurs the first Wednesday of every month, so I will probably play it again some too.

I guess soon I’ll have to add an “Events” link to the left hand column of my page … it sure is getting full. I’m also thinking of making a “Top Ten” section, where I list my favorite 10 current songs, all-time songs, etc. I think it will be interesting, though it is incredibly difficult for me to name pick favorites. It may also end up being “Top 50” or something like that.

Albeit I am not able to update everything I would like to update, here goes:

Poison Springs Records is official, and thus is officially my label. Also, Lucky Town is making a triumphant return as I played it for a new audience who loved it, and that makes me happy. Now, I am planning on producing professional CDs as early as mid-August, and because Lucky Town has always been so popular, I am going to rerecord It All Comes Out and Triad, to give them that more professional appeal. I also rerecorded drums and remastered Hell, and I am poring over doing the same for Heaven, but I feel like drums detract from its sound. Hopefully I can decide something soon.

Anyway, I am hoping for Unnatural to go on sale by September 1, with the other albums to follow as they are ready.

As for my other albums, they are still under production and are turning out nicely, although it is hard to tell with no real finished product to speak of. Since I was gone for a week, it has thrown off my ability to write lyrics somewhat, but I will get back into the swing of things soon enough. I am so happy with music at the moment that I can’t even feel bad about it. And it’s all thanks to my loyal readers ! I think …

And finally, sadly, Unborn is undergoing some turbulent times, but I will post an update when the dust has settled.
