No Town Crier practice recordings this week …

November 11th, 2009

Since we’ve now gotten reference recordings of all of our sets, we decided this week just to work on powering through sets.  We’re gearing up our fine tuning to get ready for our New Year’s gig, and we’re hoping to play a few gigs in early December as well (will post more details when it’s available).

We did, however, finally get a band photo, so I’ve posted that to the website (http://jeremytharp.com/towncrier/).

Also, all reference recordings for all 4 sets are now available at http://listapp.ciesurplus.com/jeremy_temp/

Enjoy!

Recordings from Town Crier 10-6-09 band practice now available

October 7th, 2009

I’ve decided to try recording my band (Town Crier) each week at practice and publishing MP3s.

These will be temporary — once I get a new batch each week, I’ll remove the old ones.

At any rate, this week’s recordings are currently up at http://listapp.ciesurplus.com/jeremy_temp/ and include:

  • Boni Maroni
  • Running Down A Dream
  • Unsigned Letter
  • Have You Ever Seen The Rain
  • Hot Number
  • Angel Eyes
  • What If I Came Knockin
  • Just Got Paid
  • Mr. Jones
  • Foreverman

Keep in mind of course that they’re practice recordings — there are mistakes, and there is no editing.  It’s just a live recording.  The whole idea is just to have new music to listen to.  Enjoy!

Bi-annual update whether I need it or not …

January 23rd, 2011

Many of you know I have left the band Town Crier (not that it was ever much to begin with).  I have been pursuing other projects as well, however, including composing 2 songs for the independent film “Legacy Dawn” which I finished earlier this month, my “innovative” instrumental project “The Awakening of Baz Hennessy“, and my death metal album “Avenge the Reaper.”

For Baz Hennessy, my plan is to complete the preliminary compositions this year (hopefully sooner than later), then conceptually comb over them in depth, then do crazy awesome recordings and release it officially sometime before the end of 2012.

Avenge the Reaper is little more than a collection of ideas, but once I’ve completed this phase of Baz Hennessy, I’ll get cracking on it full force.  The trick on it will be making myself a better guitarist, then having the patience for recording.  The plan is to have it ready for release sometime in the first half of 2012.

So there you go.  🙂

Weekly Acoustic Podcast Episode 8 – “Careless Whisper”

March 5th, 2010

This week I chose to do “Careless Whisper” — a great song originally by George Michael that Seether was able to completely take to the next level.  I sing this with Town Crier, so it was a natural choice.

Weekly Acoustic Podcast Episode 7 – “Lightning Crashes” and “The Thirst”

February 26th, 2010

This week’s podcast is another two-parter. The first song is “Lightning Crashes,” a great song by [wiki]Live[/wiki] who I first heard live when I was in college in 1997 or 1998. I sing the song with Town Crier.  This recording was made before I really “moved in” to the song, so there are some variations that I no longer do.

The second song is “The Thirst” from my album The Threshold of Omniscience.  I originally chose the song as a podcast right after I wrote it.  I liked it so much, I just had to share.  It too, has evolved somewhat.

As usual, these songs were recorded by just me and my acoustic guitar in my studio on my Sony ICD-SX700 Voice Recorder.

Weekly Acoustic Podcast: Episode 5 – “Mr. Jones” and “Bedroom Of The Sun”

February 12th, 2010

This week’s songs are “[wiki]Mr. Jones[/wiki]” (originally by the [wiki]Counting Crows[/wiki]), and “Bedroom of the Sun” by Me (on my album Triad).

The reason there are two songs this week is I decided to start doing one cover and one original each week.  I chose to do “Mr. Jones” because I sing it with Town Crier (it’s the last song in our first set), and “Bedroom Of The Sun” is just one of my favorites (it was also requested).

As usual, this is just me on my acoustic guitar, recorded at home in my studio on my Sony ICD-SX700 voice recorder.
